Pine Street Kindergarten’s education program is based on the belief that first few years of your child’s life provide an important foundation. Our Manly preschool aims to give your child rich experiences in a safe, home-like environment, following the Early Years Learning Framework.
We believe in providing children with opportunities, while embracing the direction children take things. Our curriculum is living and spontaneous, with constant negotiation between the children and educators. We trust in the power of play and music to create a constructive learning environment.

Playing is serious business
Our preschool in Manly encourages children to create their own learning experiences. Our educators use conversations, actions and play to involve your child in creating experiences, seeking out their ideas, opinions, thoughts and questions.
It’s also important to us – and your child – to reinforce the relationships between your family members and the broader community. We incorporate your child’s knowledge, ideas, culture, abilities and interests in setting a direction for our preschool program.
As our preschool is in a converted house, we have a large outdoor area in the back garden. There’s plenty of room for ball games and outdoor exploration. Our educators regularly set up obstacle courses, plus we have a cubby house, swings and a vegetable garden for the children to enjoy.
Play activities each day will generally include painting, climbing, play dough, puzzles, construction, storytelling, and sand and water play. We also divide the children into two smaller groups based on age for group time, to allow educators to concentrate on levels of development and school readiness.
The rhythm of our days
Research shows that music is a powerful tool for helping children to learn. Music activates different parts of the brain and ensures better retention.
Pine Street Kindergarten use a variety of licensed preschool programs to support your child’s development, interests and needs. We use music, yoga, meditation, dance and art throughout the day to reinforce your child’s preschool learning.

Rotating daily sessions
Other programs at our preschool in Manly include cooking, munch and move, yoga, art, science and sustainability. We rotate our schedule each term so that children attending Pine Street Kindergarten on different days get to experience a range of activities during their time at our Manly preschool.
Pine Street Kindergarten also provides children with intergenerational play opportunities. We have a partnership with the nearby Wesley Heights Nursing Home, bringing together the children and senior citizens. This program helps children to feel a part of the broader community and develop relationships with people of all ages.
